Noticed a small sidewalk replacement project on the way to work last week. A few corners had the wheelchair accessible walks put in so there wasn't a lot of sidewalk ripped up. I also noticed a boarded up apartment building that was also on a corner. Hit both of them today.
The sidewalk replacement didn't yield many coins, but I did get my first Barber! That nasty scratch on the obverse & reverse were not done by me, honest. Probably the heavy equipment that ran over it a few times. Very shallow, perhaps 2'' mixed in with compressed grass. I also got a 1957 wheat ear and a few mem's and a nickle (1982) that was 4'' down under gravel.
The parkway at the boarded up apartment building was penny hell. 17 of them and I decided to discrim them out and hope to at least find a quarter. Ended up with a quarter, 2 dimes and 17 cents, all mem's and ZLincolns. I'll hit the parkway again, plenty of ground left to cover. Way too much scrap crap to even attempt to look in the nickle/pull tab range. Most cents were within the top inch of the soil.
