I really think this is a bullet but I would place it in the mid-19th century.

It appears to have an intact sprue and though you'd think it a drop or a discard it is deformed at the end as if it were fired.

All that said, I'm not sure what to make of it.

Calling on those of you with more knowledge on this to weigh in.

I doubt very much that it is a bullet.

Possibly a stopper of some kind.

Thanks Charlie. Because of what appears to be a sprue, bullet was the first thing that came to mind.
