WELL THE WIFE CAME DOWN TO WORK AT THE SHOP TODAY, SO SHE CUT ME LOOSE TO GO DO SOME DIGGING, AND BACK TO THE PARK I WENT....STARTED OUT KINDA SLOW, BUT SOON PICKED UP AND I DUG 25 COINS, THE OLDEST BEING A 1919S WHEATIE AT 4.5 INCHES, WHICH IS A BAD THING, YOU SEE I TRY AND STAY TO 3 INCHES AND UNDER BUT THIS HIT WAS JUST CALLING MY NAME, AND I AM GLAD IT DID....TOTAL FOR JUST OVER 2 HRS WAS 1 QUARTER 3 DIMES, ONE NICKLE, AND 20 PENNEYS, AND A SMALL CAT CHARM, NOT TO MENTION A WHOLE LOT OF JUNK.....
THE 1919S IS THE GREEN ONE IN THE PIC.

PS TOTAL FOR THE LAST 3 DAYS AND A TOTAL OF 4 HRS HUNTING WAS 70 COINS, AND ONE CAT CHARM....THINK I WILL HAVE TO TAKE MY WIFE WITH ME NEXT TIME.
SHE ALWAYS FINDS THE GOOD STUFF.

nice stuff LG. im curious though,why do you try to limit your digs to 3" and under? 4" and deeper is often where the silver lurks! just curious.

IT IS A CITY PARK AND ALOT OF PEOPLE ARE USUALLY AROUND SO I DONT LIKE TO DIG TO DEEP OF HOLES OR SPEND ALOT OF TIME DIGGING THEM....HENCE I STAY AROUND THE 3 INCH MARK....4 INCHES TAKES ALITTLE MORE TIME AND ALOT MORE DIGGING AND I AM ALWAYS BEING WATCHED BY SOMEBODY, I DONT WANT THEM TO SAY THAT I AM DIGGING UP THE WHOLE PARK SO I STICK TO THE SHORT AND SWEET HOLES.

IT MAKES ME LOOK GOOD IN THE PUBLIC EYE.

LG I also know the feeling of being watched when at a park. At a MD outing not to long ago I seemed to have this particular park all to myself. After about a hour and a half of being semi-alone I was bombed with a rash of people out for the really nice day we were having. What made me the most nervous was finding evidence of someone else MD'ing recently and did not cover their holes back up. I felt as if I would be blamed for this as a number of people noticed me digging. I always fill my holes up and that day also filled several that I did not dig. I suspect it was some kid I hope that has never been educated to the fact "FILL YOUR HOLES BACK UP!". Hopefully most adults would have better sense.

ok. that makes perfect sense! i know how you feel.i hate feeling like a criminal or something when im out detecting. hell, i probably take better care of the grass than the groundskeepers do!

I also agree on that feeling of not wanting to spend too much time on one hole.
I always feel like people are wondering what this person is doing and then they
come over to investigate. Just love when all the keepers are 3 in and above!!
