Made a first find today. I parked my truck, turned on my 2500, and walked about 10 feet. This was my first signal. Wow was I thrilled. This is the first complete spur I've dug. I've found pieces, but this is the first whole one. Hope you enjoy. :blob3: :blob10: :blob5:

The spur made a nice display. Still got to label it. The pictures of the old, and fields is where the spur was found. The one with the back of my truck in it is where it was found. About 20 feet from the right of the little pine tree in the old road bed is where it was dug. This entire area has relics of some sort in it. I've still got a lot of looking to do.

Any marks? Looks very similar to a North & Judd style listed as #W12 in Crouch's Historic American Spurs and valued at $600/pair.

Sorry I can't post a pic, due to ©.

North & Judd generally used an anchor mark. However, other makers closely imitated some of their designs.

Here's another pair of North & Judd spurs (not quite the same, but worth a look) on eBay:

fantastic find!!! I love it. congrats

Re: A Spur. My first ever.

PBK thank you very much. The spur I have does have an anchor on the other side from the engravings. It has the leaf design engraves on it. I wish they had put a date on them, but maybe I can find it. Again Thanks.

Glad I could help, O.R.! :coffee2:

1879 would be about the earliest date for the spur. North & Judd registered their anchor trademark on April 15, 1879, claiming at that time that it had been in use for six months. The company reportedly continued manufacturing spurs until the early 1960's.

Re: A Spur. My first ever.

Well I'm getting close. I found the Ox Bow stirrup, and a horse shoe in the same area.

Added a few pictures of the dig area. Enjoy.

That is a nice find, OR, and I can't believe how good a shape it's in too. What do suppose was thought of someone who lost just one spur?

One spur? You only jangled and not jingled when you walked. :laughing7:
I like that spur good looking spot too

I feel like to other spur is in that field somewhere. See the Original house that was on this site was torn down, or pushed off to that field where it is scattered all over it. What ever was in the house went with it. With a little luck I just might find the other spur. Here's keeping my fingers crossed.

Sweeeeetttt! Man, that would have me on vacation for a couple of days, huntin't the crap outta that area. I haven't seen anyone find a whole spur on here before. Nice Going!

Been back to field, but no more spur. Found a lot of junk though. That all goes along with hunting though. I'm still looking. HH......
