Last week I posted asking about a percussion musket I was considering buying, and I went ahead and bought it today. I still know very little about it, but now I can take more pictures. It's a smooth bore percussion cap musket. The markings say "LEMAN LANCTR. PA". Does anybody have a good idea of how old this rifle is and/or what it's worth?

I'm gonna make a guess it was made after the 1830s (1830s to 1870s) just because of it being a half stock ( wood not going the whole way out the barrel) I'm not sure what it would be worth for sure alot of things would come into play for the value like the condition of the bore and if the locks work properly and overall condition of the wood..if its in good shape i would guess in the 600 to 1000 dollar range...it's a nice gun and if I owned it I would make sure the metal is all good and I would shoot it and maybe even take it hunting...

I would join a blackpowder gun forum and post it, to learn more. We have a lot of knowledgeable people here.....But the guys on a BP specific forum eat, breathe, live BP weapons. Like the one linked below, oh and they have a firearm identification section.

That's a good suggestion, I'll definitely try that.

I agree with l.cutler and suggest the value might be even less than $500 even if it fires.
I agree, after some research I was kind of generous with my value estimate! Dennis Fulmer antique arms has a Leman marked halfstock in similar condition listed for $425, and that is from a dealer so is probably top end.
