A Sloppy Hunt Before the Next Storm

The Boston area has suffered through several storms in recent days. Not a ton of snow, but enough to make detecting unpleasant. The local weather gurus are predicting another snow-maker for Saturday, so I thought it would be prudent to get out today to do some detecting before everything is covered up again.

I've been hunting a new area that has produced a variety of both old and new finds. After slogging around the woods for a couple of hours I hit on a lovely "96" VDI. After scraping away a two inch crust of snow, and another few inches of dirt, out pops a very nice walking liberty half dollar:



After poking around for another hour, I came across this 2-piece eagle button:



All in all a fine, silvery hunt!

Very nice half. That has got to be one of America’s most beautiful coins. That button is not a common find around here, at least not for me. Congrats on the really nice finds. Still no frozen ground; just hope the snow stays away. Happy hunting!
