a silver ???

Found this is a private yard to a house built in the early 1800's. It is about 2 1/4 inches long and appears broken at the end. There is a stone or glass pinkish/purple in color on the other end and it may have turned at one time..It also appears to be silver or silver plate. It also had a tiny loop, like it was attached to something, at the end with the stone/glass, this of course I immediately broke off.... Any ideas

Jeff, your ps abilities are getting good. Could it be an old lead pen? They were made with silver and decorative stones, as were ink pens.

DG...a lead pencil is what I thought of when I found it. The picture Jeff posted is identical to what I found, the only question I have is a handle to what? the little ring that broke off of it looked like it wouldn;t take much weight or any strain and look more like a clip..

Look alot like that. Except the ends are Pointed
instead of flat.
