I went out to a park that had a carnival and other celebrations going on for the past few days. The ground was as dry as a popcorn fart so the digging wasn't any fun.

After I spent about 30 minutes on the grass I wen to the tot lot for about 45 minutes. I found all the dirty stuff in the grass, including the silver CTR ring and found all the clean stuff, including the heart necklace (is not real gold or diamonds but I'll take it) in the wood chips.

My little girl (Sissy) and Dylan came along and had a ball. Sissy found the quarter in the picture that's painted on the back, a few dimes and pennies and a copper ring. Dylan found some change as well but took his find home with him so I couldn't post for him.

oh hogwash, wish my short hunts were as good as yours......your kids sure look like they are into it big time.... congrats to sissy too.... and what the heck is that ny thingy... wtg as usual Sparky...training them munchkins well too I see, seems like your son cuts a mighty nice plug too.... big time congrats... whats that ctr ring,, just an initial ring or does it mean something else, just curious..

very nice finds, congrats!

Thanks for the kind replies everyone!

I'm not sure how many detectorists are in this area but I can only remember a few times in the past 4 years or so even seeing anyone else out hunting, I never run into anyone. I think this is why there's almost always something to find no matter where I hunt. The parks and schools around here are well used and nobody's cleaning it out. Some days I find tons of stuff right off the bat and other days it takes hours to find just a little bit of stuff.

I went to the Sammy Kershaw concert, carnival and fireworks at the park in this post Saturday day and night and if there wasn't 3 or 4 thousand people there for all the events between Friday and Saturday I'd be supprised. As you can see, it's a huge place and will never be totally cleaned out. I'll be hitting it every chance I get this week trying to get all the newly lost items.

If you think about all the kids that went through the tot lot this weekend the finds are not that much. I covered the whole thing and pulled out every signal, not saying I got it all but I know I got most of it.

Dylan is not my son, he's the kid across the street that I gave one of the Ace 250's to during the giveaway a while back. He's finally getting into it and now that he's showing interest, my kids want to do it too. I knew this would happen, it always does. They don't want anything to do with something until another kid shows interest then they all have to do it. It's a good thing and I'm glad the want to give it a go. I still need to work with Dylan on his plug cutting a little but he's doing great. He cuts a rather big one at times but when he replaces the plug you can hardly even see he was there. Just a little more practice and he'll be fine.

The CTR ring is from the Mormon church. It stands for "Choose The Right". These rings are lost everywhere here, I think I've found 4 or 5 already this year.

I had to Google CTR and there you had it all along at the last posting :D...oh well it's always great to learn more. That's the aspect of the hobby I really like.
