Today I decided to switch coils and go back to a permission that is littered with iron and trash.
Considering how hard i have hit this property, i was very pleasantly surprised to find a couple wheat backs, a key and a little clad.

My big find of the day was this set stone. I have no idea what it is or how old it may be or if its a ring or pendent.
Here it is before cleaning.

After a little dish soap and toothbrush, this is what it looks like now.

Here are some better pictures from different angles.

Any info on the stone would be very helpful.

HH everyone!

Do some googling This is an art form that was crated by the Murano towns and about the locale. I do not believe it is made anywhere else in the world. The cut rounds are then bunched together and fired to make the shape you have today. Moderately expensive to purchase finished product. The Mille Fiore is also expensive to purchase and comes in long rods about 14" Then cut into 1/8" slivers bunched and fired. Your appears to be Very old. I really Really Like it

Cool find - I'm curious about the metal that the glass is set in , the workmanship with the granules in pattern on the bezel , and the twisted wire "roap braid" at the bottom of the bezel , and the interior bezel seat that the glass is sitting on , are all very typical of Gold or Silver bezel settings - not copper, or brass - so I really am curious about the metal there !

Good job. That’s a nice find.

Really cool looking dig! Would look good in a display of miscellaneous finds or a shadow box of same.

Very nice. It seems to be a vintage pin of some sort, with the backing or just the pin missing.

Is their any cheap way to know what kind of metal it is or how old this may be? The house i found it at was built in 1912. I have found well over 30 wheat back pennies that date before 1920 within 10 feet of where this was found.

Makes sense that it might be a pin with the backing missing. I don't see any places where the pin broke off so maybe the person wearing it still had the backing attached to their clothing and didn't realize this fell off.

Nice finds Ammoman, congrats and thanks for sharing!!! "D"

Looks to me to be the lid off of a small brass box. Go find the other half :)

I guess its possible. But it is very small...about the size of a large gawdy ring or broach or pendent.

Beautiful piece, congrats! :occasion14:

Thats a grest relic and will display very well Great find

That glass is really nice! I'd love to find something that colorful. So used to seeing the old patinas but that kicks it up a notch. Bam!

Thanks Gene, It is indeed way more colorful in person and by far the most colorful item i have found. If it were just the glass, i would put it in the category of some of the marbles i have found. But, having been mounted, (an old mount at that) their is a contrast that strikes me as unusual blatant in your face art.
