We gridded on for another 5 hours 15 minutes. This year we decided to cover an area at the far end of the field that produced very little, hence only done once. Glad we did because thats where the big hammered was hidding. We have also now covered 90% of the good Saxon Area & are unlikely to get a Sceat or other Saxon artefacts.:sadsmiley: Still we had plenty of bonus finds we never expected.

17th C Buckle
Lead Dog
Medieval Horse Pendant
Jetton
Poor quality Hammered
Charles I SHILLING 1641-3 It's only our 4 ever Shilling of any King/Queen.
Also I got a 1677-79 Scottish Copper Turner - Another FIRST!

That gold colour 10 Cent Euro made me swallow my tongue.

Steve

Its the last years of the London Tower Mint under the King before Parliament took over.

Really cool hammered! Crisp lookin' detail!

Tumultuous time in our nations history when that coin was lost. Pity that it has been bashed around by the plough. The portrait of Charles on his coins is one of my favourites. The lozenge shaped harness mount in the picture with the plastic figure, is that an engraved monogram I can make out ?
Nice group of finds and your hot on the trail of that elusive sceatt.

George..

Awesome group of finds Cru, but that shilling is just incredible. Great hunt

George..

Its a Victorian Oval brass Horse Blinker with a script letter B. Probably give it to the landowners as its their Initial.

Another outstanding day for you guys, and congrats on that big silver. I can't believe you don't find many of those shillings over there with all the hammereds you dig. I've personally dug 3 from Charles I over here plus a half crown, and others have been recovered by some of my friends. Very strange indeed!

I would love to find a Charles I coin over here. It was an important time in American history too that's rarely written about. A lot of our prominent Virginia families were Royalists who fled to here and they really changed our political landscape. I think Bill D. found a Commonwealth hammered a year or so ago, that's another one I would love to find. Great finds as usual Cru!

Nice big hammered! I had a good laugh with your 10 Eurocents. My Lady had the same last week with the 10 Cents. They really look like gold in the ground...

501..502..503.. They keep adding up! Great finds Crusader, that shilling is sweet.

You are having some incredible hunts and we over on this side are grateful for your posts and pics. Much luck hoped for your next.

Nice big fat hammy ! Excellent portrait intact - nice details on the reverse ! bit of clipping maybe ? What a buzzkill on the Euro trash coin !

I really enjoy the tour of Enland's history that is a part of every one of your posts. And that coin is dead beautiful. Of the hammered silvers from your country I've seen so far, that was is second only to the Edward iii groats in terms of eye appeal to me.

Really nice save Cru.
If I didn't know better, I would think they were all over the place over there..
Congrats to you and your Dad.

Beautiful coin & excellent finds. I hope I get to visit one day! A couple of my buddies are over there right now

I want one. lol

Still at it I see. Great finds, Cru.

I wish you a hammered gold.
