My neighbors yard produced this. House built in 1874. Pic 1 is the front. 2 is the back. Somthing is weird. It rang up like a nickel and seems to be zinc or pot metal maybe? Not sure.

Next items from a field hunt the other day. They are brass. I found the pieces on 2 separate visits.

The first one is part of a a key chain and was probably mounted on a leather fob, similar to the one below. The other is an organ reed plate.

An organ huh? How common was that in a house?

Reed organs, (aka: pump organs, harmoniums, and melodeons) were fairly common.

Agree with most likely FOB and reed. Possibly accordion reed though.

The top one could also be a small watch fob.

Correct me if I am wrong, but accordion reeds are double reed plates .. One reed for compressing the air and one reed for pulling the air.

Several years ago I had a 19th Century accordion that I had to take apart for repairs (beeswax the reeds into position). The reeds looked very similar to the OP but upon further review, I think you are 100% correct. Not accordion reed.

These 2 sites are producing great finds. Silver, copper, buttons, bullets, and buckles. What more can we ask?
