Too many of the American people do not remember the communist party of America ever having a candidate in the presidential elections and most Americans didn't notice when they stopped having a candidate.

Shame on us!

Keep in mind that this was said 69 years ago

A quote from 1944:

If you aren't scared, you're NOT LISTENING.

DeepseekerADS:

Do you realize your post talks about the communist party and Mr. Thomas ran as a candidate for the socialist party?

Or that your "quote" appears to be another lie from Ronald Reagan? Can you provide a link to where and when Mr. Thomas either wrote or said that?

Good luck to all,

This quote does not appear to be a "lie" from Reagan. It is actually hard to pinpoint it because we did not have the same media system we have today. It's not like the BOs raving how we will get to single payer slowly. Back then speeches and craziness were often written down by someone. It is telling you research only enough to claim you know the truth, and then just spew it to whomever might listen.

Here is another possible source. By another crazy loon named Sinclair.
As far as we know, the closest connection yet found between Norman Thomas and the substance of the words attributed to him is something that was written to (not by) him, a 1951 letter from Upton Sinclair, the noted American author (best known for his 1906 muckraking novel The Jungle) who twice (unsuccessfully) ran for Congress on the Socialist ticket and (also unsuccessfully) ran for the governorship of California as a Democrat in 1934:
The American People will take Socialism, but they won't take the label. I certainly proved it in the case of EPIC. Running on the Socialist ticket I got 60,000 votes, and running on the slogan to 'End Poverty in California' I got 879,000. I think we simply have to recognize the fact that our enemies have succeeded in spreading the Big Lie. There is no use attacking it by a front attack, it is much better to out-flank them.

If Buck wouldn't have said anything, you know that the post would have been accepted as gospel. Even you say it is hard to pinpoint where it comes from, but it definitely didn't come from Norman Thomas.

Definitely not you say Dave? It fits his profile so there is a chance it came from him still. Remember the hard to pinpoint part?

Your excuse is a poor one. "Might be a chance" is the standard you establish? That's a bar low enough for limbo.

It is telling you try to cover up the obvious fact it is not what the poster claimed it to be. A lack of elementary due diligence before broadcasting would have shown that.

"Spew?" I asked for documentation that the quote is real. Funny how often those on the right consider the truth to be an attack...

Some "conservatives" toss out fake George Washington and Thomas Jefferson quotes that can't be verified. Everything they wrote is documented and readily available.

I continue to find it interesting that my email inbox isn't full of wild librul chain emailed lies and rumors and mis- and dis-information. There are folks over on Amazon who cut 'n' paste those every day as if they were fact. It's a cottage industry to come up with them. Heck - remember the roster of Mr. Obama's "Firsts?" I believe that was put up here twice. Riddled with error.

Ronald Reagan never let the facts get in the way of his stories. While I completely agree with his campaign to rid the world of nuclear weapons, he made that the centerpiece of his second Administration after seeing a made for tv movie.

Look up the "Medal of Honor" story. From a Hollywood movie.

The quote is false. Period.

Good luck to all,

My "might be a chance" is a whole lot more honest than your partisan hack attack. But, it's all you have, use it the way you know best.

Dave44:

Real nice of you to try to stick up for deepseekerADS's fake quote.

But your insults are a poor substitute for facts. "Hack attack?" Because I pointed out the truth?

Good luck to all,

why doesn't the original poster chime in at this point and tell us how "more honest" it is?

I realize that person might not be reading his own posts and responses, but hey, here's the chance to set the record straight.

Reminds me of sports talk shows - "First time listener; long time caller."

Good luck to all,
