Got lucky enough to find these gems yesterday! Very worn out 1917s Mercury, a token from an old radio show from the 40s called Captain Midnight, and a Hoover plate...I'd say it was a printing plate maybe??

Thanks for looking! 20200105_202403.jpg20200105_202458.jpg20200105_202610.jpg20200105_202712.jpg20200105_213617.jpg20200105_213601.jpg

Nice finds , wonder if the plate said “the Hoover Dam” ? If it didn’t have “the” I would think something President Hoover related but who knows

There was a place called Hoover Mills in Wayne County, Indiana.
Also, Hoover, Adams Twp., Cass County, Indiana.

Hopefully you can get that cleaned up a bit. That last line esp. above The Hoover. It almost looks like it says something like, "the life in Wayne County."

Cool finds!

Wonder if some electrolysis would clean that up a bit??

Electrolysis surely would help... if you don’t have one or do not want to make one send it on over... I’m in Ohio I have a 20 gallon ultrasonic cleaner.... Ddf

Very Nice!!! Congrats!!!

I've got the equipment needed to make an electrolysis setup...just haven't done it yet. Looks like I need to get crack-a-lackin!

I think I'd start with hot soapy water and toothbrush. You want to remove the dirt without damaging the metal when you have that kind of detail.

Nice finds. Your Captain Midnight token, is also a "spinner token". Place the side with the "nub" in the propeller face down, and give it a good spin with your fingers.

Captain midnight that's freakin cool good hunt and a silver to top it off excellent day
