I only had 30 minutes. We have a baby and another on the way and it’s all my wife could afford me to hunt. The 30 minutes I had to detect today didn’t disappoint. I went over an area where day lilies are just starting to pop as they do every year. I’ve gone over it before, but the ground is wet and I dropped it to 8 kHz in the hot program and knocked the TX power up to 3. I heard a good tone which only showed a small line on the XY screen (I was happy to see it was faint and deep. 11 inches down I pulled out a toasted draped bust cent! I have found a lot of large cents and many coins older but this is my first draped. It’s pretty corroded and I doubt I can get a date off it, but I am happy with my hunt for sure.

Congrats on the sweet DBLC fellow Mass hunter and best wishes on your expanding family!

Don't use the brush and water method. Use the Andre's pencils, they are inexpensive and you use them dry. I had one like yours and was able to get the date and other details off of it. I'll never wet brush a coin or button again.

Nice find Jon! Let us know if you clean it up and find the date. Thanks for sharing...

UPDATE: got a date off it. 1800. I will post a new pic when it’s all cleaned up

Congrats on the coin and the family addition.

Congratualtions on the LC and the expected arrival of the new baby! :occasion14:
