Breezie - I don't think the JIM is incused - it looks to me like it was made that way for a business owner named Jim. And from a couple of angles on the token, I think it started out live as an octagonal piece that has been cut/filed/clipped to the odd shape we see.

It appears someone used a trade token and turned it into a 'love' token by carving the name/initials on one side.

After looking at the enlarged photo, I do believe you're right. JIM was probably the owner of the establishment or either the name of place.
