I was thinking... I don't know any clubs around where I live. I have a lot of free time and was thinking about doing a public hunt in the park and maybe charging people for enrollment to make a quick buck. I liked the Idea of painted pennies each color is a different value coin.
(Example: Green = Merc Dime \ Gold = Morgan Dollar )

If things go well at the hunt, (If people show up and are happy with find's) I was thinking about starting a Club too.

Any Ideas, Laws, or general information on the above would be great!!

Thanks,

Doing it "to make a quick buck" isn't what it's all about. Most hunts barely break even. Laws vary throughout the country and you need to think insurance, liability, etc.
I'd be more inclined to think about getting a club started 1st and then later maybe a hunt can be brought into the forefront and voted on. JMO

Our club does an annual hunt and we make a very small profit. If we paid the membesr who do most of the work getting it organized we would be thouands in the hole. It would not be a quick buck but rather a slow cent. get the club going first.

How do you think you could charge people to hunt in a public park? You'd probably be in big trouble with the City just for a starter and what if some kid falls and breaks a leg? Could you afford the million dollar lawsuit? Better start the club first and forget about trying to make a profit. JIM

...that would be some very quick bucks for a lawyer and lots of them... :'(

Sounded like a good Idea when I first thought of it. I figured hunters around here would love a unique hunt and they would come swarming.

How can someone sue me if it is on public property? I can charge because people are paying for a chance to win a prize. They can hunt if they don't pay but they won't get a prize. If worse comes to worse people could sign a no fault injury or death agreement. If people are that worried about it they won't sign and won't play.

Its not all that improbable there are ways around these little loop holes. Remember I am looking for good ideas to get this off the ground I am not looking to get shot down. For that I can just ask my dad. ?

Thanks and HH!!
