So we got permission to hunt a couple of homes in Chester SC, and got some pretty good stuff..
1st pick is everything from both houses, older house produced 6 wheats and 2 buttons, (can you ID and are they CW?) (and relative value )
(PS I know what they are, but wondering how long it will take the treasurenet sleuths to get them)

Second house produced 2 silver quarters and some wheats with some clad.

Also has anyone ever dug what they thought MIGHT be a steel 1943 penny but it was so cruddy you couldn't be sure....
Well the three coin pic is probably that... the Nickel is 1941, then a wheat 1942 and that other rusted thing... all were in the same hole...
there was also a gold plated locket but couldn't see anything when I opened it up..

Thanks for looking !!

You did very well - two big Silver's - congrats !

And yes, I'm 99% sure that I have dug a Steel Penny.
I was hunting a 1800's house a few years ago and hit a pocket spill of ( 7 ) Wheat Cents.
There were no other coins in the hole - just Wheat Cents.
But there was also a very rusted round object in the hole that was also the exact same diameter as the Wheat's.
Halfway home from the hunt it dawned on me - that's not a old Washer - it's what's left of a Steel Penny.

I got a 43 steel cent from where an old front porch had been torn off. It was sheltered under the boards but, it still wasn’t in the best of condition.

I wanted to say that I have been using the DEUS II now for more than a year, and a few month ago I realized how well it does on picking good targets out of multiple targets..
My friend and hunting partner uses the Minelab NOX 800, I'm almost thinking about buying him a DEUS II, because of how much more I find, and when I ask him to check a signal that I'm getting and I'm sure its something good, at least half the time he says that his machine shows it "all over the place" as far as a signal...
Basically saying he would NOT have dug a lot of the targets I get.
That being said, let me tell you, the house where I got the two silver quarters, and the Nickel and Wheat and steel penny..
The first Silver Quarter was in the front yard and the signal was CLEAN, you know the type... I had him check it and he confirmed his was reading "Quarter" maybe a bit higher .... So no problem there...
But in the backyard, I got a high signal 92-93, I could not determine weather it was a coin or not, only that it was deeper and giving a good number (probably around other targets) I asked him to check this and he said his machine was reading "All over the place" high and low numbers.. and "bouncing around" I don't think he would have dug it because it wasn't a "CLEAN" target.
That's when I dug it and the first coin out was the Wheat cent... and I thought ... that's not right because a wheat cent does not read 92-93,
(they are normally around 88-89) so I figured I was missing something, I did not rescan the hole, only stuck my pinpointer back in and in the bottom it buzzed and I reached in and felt another coin, that one was the second Silver Quarter, clearly the wheat cent was sitting on top of that quarter because you can see the circle where it was...
Deus II correctly called it a "HIGH" signal, better than copper wheat cent.. even though the wheat was sitting on top of the quarter...
Pay attention guys to those bouncy signals, my friend would have walked over that silver quarter for sure...

Nice finds and agree that you have a steel wheatie.
In my opinion, the iffy targets are a must to dig. How much gold jewelry has he ever found? My guess is none unless it was a perfect nickel signal and most that pass on marginal targets don't dig nickel signals.
Congratulations and thanks for sharing. The steel wheatie coming out with other wheats brings back some nice memories.

That's a good old town. Lots of history around there
I did not realize how much, I know its old, we go to a wonderful Bed & Breakfast down there that was built in 1903 I think, I have permission to hunt their yard but haven't yet. When we were hunting those houses a neighbor came out to ask what we were doing and told us that there were 3 cannons from the CW found in Chester after some construction turned them up, I didn't know...
If your ever in the area, this is an INCREDIBLE B&B dedicated to Blues and Jazz, me and the wife have stayed here multiple times..
