Found this in the creek I have been deer hunting over, and it has me stumped. It looks like fossilized Ivory, it has the sound of stone when you tap on it, it is also very lite. It could be petrified wood you can see grains, but you can see grain in some Ivory:icon_scratch: At first I thought it was a awl and then I saw where it had been made to be hafted. I myself have never seen a hafted awl but I'm no expert so I am asking for all ideas, is it a point of some type or a awl:dontknow: Kids-stone-bone point 004.webpKids-stone-bone point 005.webpKids-stone-bone point 006.webpKids-stone-bone point 007.webpKids-stone-bone point 009.webpKids-stone-bone point 011.webpKids-stone-bone point 012.webpI'm going to carry it to a friend that has a very high power microscope, I looked at it under mine but I'm not for sure what I'm looking at, but he for sure will know.

It's an interesting find but, I can't tell you anything about it. Keep us posted about what turns out to be? Good luck.

Hard to judge just from the photos.
The 'grain' could be wood, or even bone.
If ivory or tusk, symmetric Schreger lines will be evident in cross-section.

Super find do you think it could b a hair pin or something worn by NA ? Looks like a tent stake haha

Waiting for the scope results...........................................................

Very possible on the hair pin. Nice find

Update this piece is petrified wood, looked at it under 1,000x scope. I'm just not sure what it was used for, buddy of mine said it looked like a punge stick off of a trap. Who knows:icon_scratch:, like Bravowhiskey said a multi tool and I will go with that:icon_thumleft:

Glad you found out what it was material wise it's a really nice find in my book ;)!!!

Hey monsterrack....the part on the far right almost looks like my "flattner" thing...remember? RSCN4092.webp
