This thing has been on an old unused grain bin in our barn for years , the other day I noticed it had an old label on it .

it's hard to make out what it says - Krom Castle at Lovagny newrlsgorges du
Fier Built 9th century ???????????

There is another word written directly on beginning with the letter C (3rd pic )

any ideas ?

Did you have any relatives that fought in Europe during WWII, and could have picked it up as a souvenir?
(The reason I suggest this, is that the tape looks like old bandage tape, and the writing has that 1940's feel to it)
Or anyone that traveled to Europe in the past?
You need to nail down exactly where the castle is, and go from there.
That's one cool find, definitely hold onto it.
