I had a few hours today to spare so detecting we will go. Not a quantity day but a quality day. Dug many holes at my old go to colonial location and found 2 keepers. An old flat button marked best quality and a British King George IIII, silver one Shilling coin dated 1825 in pretty nice shape. It is called a Laureate type coin. It measures 19mm in diameter and is only 1mm thick with a reeded edge. This is almost the exact spot I dug a Hessian silver coin dated 1768 last year. Thanks for looking and good luck out there. Awesome finds! It always a great day when you find coinage!

Nice Coin and Button!!! Great Saves

Super interesting find. Say that was dropped in 1830, wonder if it was used as currency in W PA or just home money from a recent immigrant/settler. Congrats!

I would guess it was used for currency at that time.

I would guess it was used for currency at that time.

I believe it was legal tender up to 1857 due to inadequate supply & distribution of US coinage.

Nice find!

Beautiful silver!!!! Congrats!!!

Congratulations on your nice recovery and welcome back to Pa.We used to go to Troupe not sure of the spelling near Scranton to visit my uncles family many years ago and without telling anyone go out and climb the large coal piles..When I returned my relatives gave me the riot act for sure
