It was a beautiful day today, so I hit a favorite park that I've hunted lots of times. After about two hours of digging clad and trash, I was surprised to find this 1798 Draped Bust LC only about 6" down, right in the middle of an area I know I've gone over multiple times before.

This is the first Draped I've found with a good legible date - the photo isn't great, but I can clearly see the date 1798 on it.

Just goes to show that no place is ever really hunted out! Thanks for looking - HH!

Isn't it funny? What we get all happy about? A coin that doesn't even have anything left on it to tell what it was, except it's a large copper from a couple hundred years ago. It somehow makes us sooo pleased, don't it! I know! One such coin on ANY given day and I'm smiling all the way home.

At least you CAN see stuff on it! Great save!

A draped bust LC is something to be very happy about, congrats. Any American coin from the 1700s for that matter. I haven't been lucky enough to find a LC of any type in 3 years, and relish the thought of pulling another one out of the ground.

I've be on cloud nine finding a old copper like yours.
Congrats

Congrats on the find!!! HH

Soooo true!!!

I am happy with a 100 year old wheaties most of the time, anything older then that I would be over the moon. Unless it was vintage can slaw

Great find and good work going back to your favorite spots!! You go back for a reason and it paid off! Awesome coin. Congrats

Nice large copper recovery. I've only been out once this year so far but was also able to recover a 1798 Draped largie. They're out there so keep hitting that site hard. Congrats!
