Congratulations on finding your first unbroken point. It's a nice one.

Unless I'm missing something, I'm really not seeing any worked pieces in the other photos. It may be some scraper material and I see some sharp edges, but I don't see any flaked edges.

The last 2 pics were just trying to show the pretty red material. Pics didnt show how pretty it is though. No worked pieces as far as I could see, and NOTHING fit together to make anything :( In the third pic,,,,the point tip on the bottom right,,,and the rest are worked scrapers. worked on front and back, 2 or 3 sides. Maybe too much sunlight. I may modify this post later w/ better pics/less sun.

Congrats on your first point and a new location! Very nice point/material

Great looking point. I like how the maker thinned the base so it could be mounted to the arrowshaft easier.

Tn!! try projectile points .com, go to Tn, to big sandy contracted base look at left photo and let me know. Terry

Tn!! thank you for ruller in photo with very nice point. with it there and the zoom or % key we can see your point at its real size along with state name no guessing. well maybe a little. Terry

Thanx for looking guys,,and the nice words. I appreciate it.

Terry,,I do believe you are correct. Big Sandy it shall be.

Here is a close up of my now favorite scraper,,the brown one. What is this other little cutey called? Its perfect in every way, a scribe? A drill? Cant find one on any other sites. Thanx again.

Tn!! i can not find a site for this type of artifact eather. i think cutey is a hafted scrapper, see in photos 962 and 947 how it is flaked from way down on the point to the other oringnal side as shown in photo #948 and it sure looks like it has a scribing spure on left side in photos 952 and 947. oh be sure and call it big sandy contracted base becouse there is 4 or 5 big sandy points or more all with different last names and different bases. TERRY

Nice point. I like that fort payne chert. Bifuracate base could be a sharpened brewerton but would lay money on being a big sandy. Looks like some horse creek chert in the mix of reduction flakes. That Fort Payne material is some pretty stuff with the blue lines running through it. You are on some old... early Archaic styles is that is what it is.
Great find in anyones book

Thanx TnMountains,,You and Terry got it right on,,Big Sandy,,Contracted Base. It`s a start huh? Gives me a little incentive. Tell ya the truth,,I realy just like the hunting and the collecting of the rocks,,shiney, smooth, pretty colors, and thinking that MAYBE I`ll find a point if I`m lucky.
Thanx again
