A new site means a lot of work.

I got permission to hunt this new site a couple of miles from my house. I can take as long as I want, but the fire dept. is using it for training right now & they will burn it in the near future. There is a VERY GOOD POSSIBILITY of one or more caches on site. The rancher who owns it has let migrant workers stay in it over the last several years, & they trashed it.

I spent two hours there yesterday. I brought home a zinc penny & a old brass button. I uncoverd over 50 smashed pop & beer cans at about 2" deep. There is more junk in the yard than than I will be able to haul off in two pickup loads. I have to decide how to spend my time. If I can cover the house before it is burned, it will be an advantage. There is a basement & I am going to try to encourage the owner to skim off the top of the yard into the basement after it is burned. I will even volunteer to take my tractor & excevator out to help if I can.

This house sits one half mile from the old stage stop & the stage road ran right in front of it. I beleive that the house was built in about 1875. The stage station was established in about 1858 & started growing the little town of Meadowville (now Stanfield where I live) in 1863. This may be a good site but it's gonna be a long haul to really get it ready to hunt.

Gonna try to post a couple of pix. Spotz

Spooky. Reminds me of the house from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Best of luck and look forward to some cool finds.

Spotz,
That looks like it will turn into a nice place for you, should be able to find a coin or two around there. Hopefullly, they will be silver and gold. Holler if you want or need any help ;D. I am a madman on an excavator :o.

Before they burn it down might be worth your time to strip out the fuses / panel box and electrical lugs.
Sounds like you will benefit from the basement containing some of it, but if theres any chance of them getting mixed into the soil you will hunt your detecter will love re - finding them for you. The blobs will all ring out as good tones, silver numbers etc. finishing a burn site now and it was loaded with this stuff !!!!
