Detector(s) used
Quick draw 2, Fisher 1236X2, Minelab X-Terra 70
Hello,
My name is Keith and I am thinking about upgrading my 2 Detectors, First i have a Quick draw 2, 2nd A Fisher 1236X2. I would like to keep my price under 800.00. I will be using this around my house and farm lands and schools in my area in Willis Tx near Conroe. So I would like one with Quick recover time and easy to use. Any help is Thankfull!
Keith ???

Well not quick recovery but a very good detector Minelab Sovereig GT................

Keith, try a Minelab Xterra 70. Simple, light, and deep. A very versatile detector. There are many coils available and the good thing is when you change the coil, you change the frequency of the detector. You might advertise for a used one and they run in the 500.00 range and the 600.00 range with a couple of coils. R.L.

Yes the X-Terra 70 is also a very good detector i have the GT and the X-T70............

I think I will go with the Minelab Xterra 70, Thanks for the help!
Keith

I think the Fisher F70 would probably be a real good choice for what you're asking. Its less than $700, has a great recovery speed, great depth, light weight and well built (also easy to learn).

Yeah I think the F70 is a great detector too. But for about the same price you can get performance superior to the F75...that would be an Xterra 70. Best kept secret in the business.

I just ordered a XT 70. I hope it will be here soon! ;D

Boy I ordered it at 1500 Wensday, The XT 70 got here at 1530 Thursday, Boy that was Fast!

Well I went out to a old Foundation for about 30 mins, It was hot! I found 2 pennies and alot of trash. I really like the XT 70. Now i need to learn how to use it!

i am a big minelab fan but the x terra i dont like... the fact that you have to change coils to make it hunt different is a step back not forward....

I would argue that the XT-70 has an added flexibility with the ability to change frequency. To my mind that beats only having a 17 kHz machine or only a 7.5 kHz machine. My MXT doesn't have that kind of flexibility. As you might also know, there is no one perfect machine. That's why I now own a couple different machines. However, I'm liking the XT-70. Just wish Minelab would do a couple simple things to make it better, like move the batteries to under the arm to better balance the machine and provide both lower rods, a longer one and a shorter one. If they did this, this machine would get a lot more press I suspect and make them a real contender in the US. I had to find out how good the XT-70 is through my ex-hunting partner having one. If this thing continues to work as well as it has it'll become my primary machine and the MXT will become a specialty machine. Anyway, glad to see you chose the Xterra. I now realize that I was a little hasty in recommending the F70, my experience seems to now indicate that the Xterra 70 is a better machine.

Your right there they went backward with that..BUT it sure is makeing money on coil sales..........From the early 1990 Minelab has had gold detectors that run on 3 freqencys with the flip of a switch they could have done that with X-Terra series but not much money on coil sales then....................I am selling my X-terra 70 and keeping the Sovereign like the Sovereign a lot better.......==Jim==

That MXT did not cut it for me sold it not long after i got it . Liked the X-Terra 70 but hate all those coils with the Sovereign only need 2 the one that come with it and the WOT...........
