Is this a mini pocket watch its next to the wheat pennies?

It could be a watch, or possibly a bezel that had a coin in it.....

Well I thought that too but if you look at the bottom you can see a round hoop thing for like a hinge. Also the top has the grooves in it like a watch turner thingy lol

I am going to say, pocket watch movement housing (part of the case) for a Lady's Pocket Watch! A Compass needs no grooved winder on the top or side, whichever was the orientation of the movement inside.
