Back to a permission for a few hours this morning where I found a Roman sestertius and an Edward I penny (1280) midweek. Unfortunately no silverware or Roman today. Couple of spindle whorls and this.
Not sure exactly what it's composition is. I think it's made wholly of lead and when I first saw the design I thought post medieval token but there seems to be some sort of shank at the back sitting on a raised line.. maybe not a button shank but certainly a fixing point that broke off. Any ideas what it actually is and if I'm right about the date (16th-17th century)
