'' a map of the world'' '' drawn by Daniel Dix" any one seen one of these
hey guts, i just got a call from my cousin just now. he said his granny found this in her storage shed today, she dont remember where it came from. he sent me 2 pics. the front of the atlas , it has a seam, as if the the atlas was once folded. its says "a map of the world'' they think its hand drawn but not totally sure. where it says , "drawn by
daniel dix 1816" is hand drawn for sure, with a fountain pen or feather. also, it seems there is a little blackand white photo, on the bottom left, the size of a postage stamp, and kinda looks like abe lincoln.
the backing behind the atlas is a very thick paper. on the back of the frame it has numerous inserts, one is like a postcard and says, "'compliments of miss d. E. Dix. Dealer in millinery fancy goods and notions ames, iowa''
the little cutout or coupon thing says
" miss d.e. Dix dealer in millinery, ladies furnishing and
fancy goods and notions. Ladies wear of all lines.
Also embroidery silks, creweles, zephyrs and
canvas, felting and satines ames, iowa "
any info info, as to where it came from, its date and possibly a value would be great.
i told them that there might be writing on the back of the cards, but should wait to open it.
