This area is closer to a road, not in the middle of nowhere like my last post. East Texas the area use to be wooded.

This is the link to my other post where I have gotton zero helpful posts... Please take a look if you haven't already and give me your ideas!

This would be a half court basketball size with many iron hits, these are some of the things I dug in the area right around it, but not sure I want to dig up the hay meadow which use to be woods.

What clues do these items give about what might have been there and should I dig this up? I need to be careful in this area because it is an important part of the ranch to provide for the horses?

Please share any thoughts you may have.

Thanks, Cindy

Thank you all for replying and I want to dig more, but not at the cost of harming their field. Does anyone know if I dig good plugs, will I in any way hurt the grass/hay or what ever they grow for the horses? Also would a couple of large holes be better or several small holes? I also know that none of these are signs of a still, but this is the general area of the ranch where the still was supposed to be. I would guess within the range a one or two city blocks. Does anyone know how far off a road or how close to a water source a still would likely be? The woods here are a tangled mess of those nasty vines that kill everything in their path, they have thorn type things on them and it is so bad in some areas, that without a machete you can't even walk; I would love any tips to help me narrow down where to look! Thanks again everyone, you are all great in my book!!!

If i was digging what you have there I would think I was around an old barn.

Barn or shed. I see files and hooks and tack items, axe, hoe, cotter-pins.

The circles in the 3rd pic is two parts of a horse bit. You have a lot of clues there!

the circles are pins that hold your farm equipment to the lifting arms on a tractor

I don't think so .. those are two halves to a snaffle-type watering bit.

You are correct. You can see the smaller circles that held the two halves together. The very top pictures the two pcs. that have the square holes mount onto a high wheel for working in the garden. I use them in my garden every year.
