I was just messing around and found a memo from the GAO talking about the distributions of circulated coins versus ordering new coins. It is quite long (some boring) but it may provide some insight as to how coins are circulated throughout the country.

GAO-08-401, U.S. Coins: The Federal Reserve Banks Are Fulfilling Coin Demand, but Optimal Inventory Ranges Are Undefined

maybe worth a read if interested.
