The weather was beautiful this weekend, so out I went in pursuit of treasure.
As is usually the case, I managed to find a lot of clad and the usual junk. The secret is to dig a lot of holes. The good targets are usually hiding in the trash... where lazy people refuse to look.
I dug this high tone, which appeared to be can slaw, however, a closer look revealed an arrow... and it looked like silver.
It turned out to be a smashed silver ring. I heated it up and tried to straighten it out, but just made the situation worse. Lesson learned: I am not a jeweler.
I was digging nails around an old school, and suddenly a silver disc flew out of the hole. I squealed as I saw the reeded edge of silver quarter!
As is always the case, I had high hopes that it was an SLQ... and as is always the case, it was a Washington. I was not the least bit disappointed to see this chunky '48 though.
YTD silver coins: 20
Thanks for looking, and best of luck on your hunts!
