I cleaned the back of the one piece button I dug this weekend. It says Kendrick & Co. I looked it up and they date to the 1830s. I still cant find an exact match though. I still haven't found any further info at all on the eagle button either. Some are close but not exactmy the same. If it helps I dug them 4 ft apart from each other. Not sure that really matters though.

Thanks for the help. The problem I'm having with that one is there's no cannonballs. I haven't seen another like it without them.

What size is your Navy button? There is one in Alberts listed as NA116 but it is 16mm or cuff size. Tice lists it as NA233 in his book.

NA233 {Albert's NA 116}
Navy, convex, two piece.
Scovill made these during the 1850s

As. The device is similar to NA 113 (Albert's) but there are no stacked cannonballs, 16mm
1. "Scovill Mg. Co." rmdc
2. "W.H.Smith & Co./ New York" dm

Since your button back does not show a depressed channel I think it is the W.H. Smith backmark.
