OK i have good dilemma,i have been finding in good quanities clad quaters and pennies that are all 1965 and up in an old park where merc. dimes and silver have been found i am getting some coins down to 6in with the 505 and with the doubled 7.5hz,sens. on 14-18 thresh.about 10 everything seems good to go just cant get the silver should i go to 9in 3hz coil?oil? all help is greatly app.

The 3K will give you an edge but the 7.5K should be okay. I have the 3K and use it for the silver.
When I use it many times I'll notch out everything under 34. Yup I may miss goodies that way, but if I often return to the same place then why not? All metal also will work. I always run my sensitivity as high as possible, and if you use auto tracking remember to turn it off when going back over targets.
Try the prospecting mode with the iron mask set to 10. When you get that high pitch sound then just go over to all metal and see what the VID is. I'm just starting to play around with prospecting mode and after a while I think I'm going to like it.
Bottom line if you can afford the 3K get it but if not your 9" 7.5K should be just fine, don't sacrifice for the 3K.

Just some thoughts off the top of my senile head.
FILL YOUR HOLES

Good luck

I have much time with both the MF DD and the LF concentric and I would not worry yourself about missing any silver because your not using the famous 3Khz coil. If you get that DD over a silver coin, you will detect it no problem. The 3Khz is nice to have but for me The 10.5"dd is the way to go.

Oh yeah and don't worry about tracking and prospecting mode on account of you don't have these modes.

thanks for the info but i have the 505x and i don't think it shoots as far or is as sensitive to silver as the 705 IMO,but i could be wrong i know my sens. doesn't go as high,no auto track,or prospect mode so things are diff, for sure maybe i need to step up and i am shortly to either 705 or the etrac.

GoldEagle,

Like vondrewvious said if your coil (either) goes over silver your machine will let you know.

Good Luck

You may not just be getting your coil over the silver at depth. Because the coils field is smaller at the bottom it needs to be over lapped to contact the coin. Also because silver is more conductive it might have been found already and isn't there to locate regardless which coil you are using.
