Thanks PBK, that's a nice link.

My math when it comes to volume isn't so good. Maybe you can tell me if this looks reasonable.

1 troy ounce = 31.10 grams, and
1 pound = 12 troy ounces = 373.2 grams, and per your link
19.32 grams = 1 cubic cm, and therefore
1 pound = 373.2 grams = 19.32 cubic cm, which finally gives

length X width X height = volume
2.7cm X 2.7cm X 2.7cm = 19.32 cubic cm ( aprox.)

which equals about 1.1 cubic inch of gold per pound.

Does that sound reasonable? It seems too small a volume to me, but then again gold IS heavy.

According to this site, http://www.onlineconversion.com/density.htm...

19.32 gram/cubic centimeter = 0.697 pound/cubic inch

meaning that 0.70 pounds/1 cubic inch is proportional to 1.0 pounds/? cubic inch leads to

? = 1.0/0.70 = 1.43 cubic inches of gold per pound

...at least I think that's right...

Like I said, my math isn't so great!

Thanks guys...
