a little help...possibly a medal?

I found this at an old homesite that dates back to the early to mid 1800's. Anybody have any clue what it is. There appears to be a King George crown on it and some writing that I cant really make out. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

The round part of it is about the size of a quarter. It's most likely copper or brass. Here are a few more pics, front and back. Back of it is flat except for that gouge in it which appears to be corrosion.

Have to disagree.

See my similar lock plate cover with crown & Initials of King (and PATENT), in your case the Queen.
I have found many of these identical to the one pictured (athough most of mine were complete).
