A little help please with this button

[Dirt Dective]

Feb. 5, 2009. Very cold here in Dixie. Found this button today. It measures 8.505 grams, 2.9cm across and 9.2cm circumference. It has Scovill MFG Co. Waterbury on the back and the Eagle design on the front. From my research, Scovill made buttons for both sides prior to the Civil War. I'm guessing this button isn't that old simply because I never get that lucky. From the website I visited, this button looks like all the rest. Any help with a date would be greatly appreciated. I should mention that the location I found the button is about a mile and a half from a Confederate muster site. Thanks in advance for the help.

Several links have that backmark as Civil War era but it is not possible because the Seal of US button design wasnt produced until 1902. http://www.thetreasuredepot.com/issue5/civilwar.htm
