A Little Gold....22.86 Grams of 18 !! Karat Goodness UPDATE
My quest for gold has been frustratingly non-productive...until today's hunt at the beach!
I had a late start and it was cold and threatening rain. I had just spent most of the early afternoon getting a pair of new tires and selling some kombucha scobys to a couple nice college gals.
So it was about 3:15 PM this afternoon and I knew exactly where I was heading. It was cold and I was dressed for summer but I was so happy to get out detecting. As the targets appeared I warmed up nicely. A few coins, some iron were good indications that it was going to be a fun day. Within a half hour I looked into my dug hole and there glittered obvious Gold! I gently tugged on it and out came a nice long Gold chain. No way I could read the markings out there. When I got home a magnifier showed me 583. My first weighing had 24.75 gram but after washing it was only 22.86 .. a lot of sand trapped there.
I was hoping for a Gold ring ... but a Gold chain is not bad either.
After some new photos I discover the clasp actually says 750! Some of the charms are the 583, makes about an extra $200 in melt!
