hey all,
vp here, this find is from last Sunday, just got some time to post it
Paco and I went to the old farm that's produced so much for so many over the last couple of years - we hit a small field that had an 1800's homestead but we thought was hunted out, the farmers had recently plowed it so we thought what the heck ... i wasn't expecting much but when I heard Paco yell and start dancing around i got exctied too - he called me over and showed me the half dime he just found ! (sorry no pic)
well i got excited and started detecting the field with a fury - all to no avail - about 30 mins later I decided to hit another field and started walking down the old road with my detector just quickly hitting along the side between the corn field and the road- i really wasn't detecting, i was more just walking from one place to another when I got a nice penney/dime sound on the E-Trac (a 12-44 signal for those interested) it was only a couple inches deep and I figured it for a modern penney or dime, when I dug it up I saw the shine peeking thru the dirt and still thought it was a modern roosevelt clad someone had dropped recently - NOPE after cleaning it lightly to my TOTAL SURPRISE I saw the seated lady !
1888-S seated dime - I ran to Paco and showed him, it's been a long time since we both got seated in the same day ! needless to say it was a very fun hunt !
take care,
