Hello All:
I had a positive experience today.
I live in a very old neighborhood; the houses date back to the 1800’s.
Just down the street from me is an older house, probably late 1890. Next door is a huge vacant lot with nicely mowed grass. I happened to see an older gentleman outside the house so decided to walk over and ask him if he owned the vacant lot. He said he did.
“Do you own the lot I asked?”
“Yes.”
“Well, I wonder if you cared if I use my MD to scan the property. I won’t leave the grass looking a mess,” I assured him.
He smiled and said, “Someone already did. He didn’t find any thing.”
“Well, would you mind if I did it again.”
“No problem.”
“Really, I just wanted to be sure it was ok.”
“Thank you. The other guy didn’t ask. I let him use his MD, and awhile later I found
He had opened my chain length fence gate and was inside my yard. I told him to GET OUT and don’t come back! About a half hour later he was across the street at my mother’s house!”
This is the kind of thing that really screws it up for the rest of us! I do believe the only reason he gave me permission to be on his property was because I had the courtesy to ask, and maybe because I’m about his age as well.
I’m hoping that if the guy with the MD was so inept in his public relations,he will have been inept in his handling of his metal detector and I will find what he missed! Serve him right!
I’ll be out there in a few days and see what I can dig up! Pun intended!
The bottom line is always ask!
