I took the day off from work, hoping to capitalize on the post-4th-of-July crowds at the beach. I got up at 4 a.m. and drove 2 hours to Daytona only to come home with nothing much more than a good handful of clad, burned skin and sore muscles. Oh well - at least it was a day at the beach!
I did find one unusual quarter-sized, silver-colored coin, - wonder if anyone here has any idea what it's about? I assume it's some sort of token as it has a representation of cupid on it - but I'm a little rusty with my Cantonese and Mandarin. Any thoughts?

Ruth,
How did your IDX work in the wet sand? i took my IDX to the beach and found a 10k gold ring in the dry sand and .12 cents everytime i hit the wet sand it give off a bad reading..

That's really neat! Great find!!

;)

Morris, I stayed away from the wet sand for just that reason. I kept getting false readings and decided it really wasn't the best use of the machine.
I only saw two other TH'rs at the beach, though, which surprised me. One was a guy who hadn't brought his dectector out yet, but stopped to talk with me. He showed me a large handful of coins that he'd found that morning just by wandering up the boardwalk and surrounding streets with his head down! At that point of the morning, he'd already eclipsed my coin total!
The other TH'er was unmistakable; he was sporting a coil that was the size of a trash can lid and was dragging a scoop that could have held a gallon milk container with room to spare! At least he was getting a workout!
At the end of my day, I stopped in Leesburg at the spot where people gathered for the previous night's fireworks show. I realized that I was bone tired at this point - too tired in fact to do much detecting. But I wound up talking to a fellow TH'r who has been using the same Garrett detector since he got it in 1978! Talk about your classics! He's kept her up though and she's in fine shape... and still turing in the clad for him. Boy, aren't we an interesting lot?!?

I think it must be a love token that translates to "Be My Valentine".
To pronounciate it, kick a tin can down the street and the sound it makes is how the words sounds,
Ping, toing, clang, ching. haha.
;D J/K

SaintSea . Nice token .I had our Japanese Translator look at it .The Translation is: Slot Machine Angel. go figure. Nice finds HH

Thanks, Floater!
I love hitting the casinos and dropping coins in those danged slot machines, so this token will be my new good luck charm!
I like it even better now that you've provided the translation...
Thanks again!
Ruth
