My father and I had a signal in the woods that I thought was another can, it turned out to be our first find of the jewelry cache - a 1950's sterling silver eagle scout ring. As we searched the area some more we started getting signals everywhere and could use the pinpointer to find some of the jewelry on the surface - or close to it. As the hunt went on we started digging out the area and I found a wallet. The wallet had one business card with details that will remain private - but it hopefully contains the owners name and address. If it turns out the be the owner, the items will be returned.

A lighter that reads "Haru-Yo" (I believe), searched for it online with no results:

A number of religious pendants, pins, and other small items:

A number of small chains that were previously tangled with the pendants:

Two religious pendants still attached to their chain:

A Sterling Silver Eagle Scout Ring c. 1950:

Congratualtions on the super jewelry found in one hunt! :notworthy:

It would be a lovely gift if you could return these. I am sure they are of sentimental value to someone.

This is a great post......you guys are on to something! Are you going back tomorrow ????
I've got questions. What's the general story about the site? Can you share a pic of the woods?
Why is it the last hunt for the year? Can you not hunt in the snow covered sites? How long have you been hunting with your father?
Very interesting finds.
Is there a second hunt in the plan?........ Please keep us updated

Congrats on the finds.. Good luck on finding the owners... Good for you trying to find the owners

Not sure if you should call it a cache or a stash! :dontknow:

Good luck on getting those things returned. Hope it works out O.K.

Update on the religious pendant on the chain picturing the Virgin Mary - has a date at the bottom c. 1830.

We are definitely going back soon. We are thinking it is one of the lat hunts due to the ground freezing but we are keeping our fingers crossed. Next time i go back ill share many pics including ones of the woods. My father and I have been hunting for nearly five-six years now. We'll keep you updated!

Maybe the kids were on a hiking or camping trip and when they took a break they put down some of their things and lost track of them. Perhaps a storm came through and they had to pack fast to get out of there. :icon_thumright:

the 1830 date is when the "mircle" of the French nun seeing the virgin mary occurred -- not the date of the medals making --almost all of the "mircle" mary medals will have the date 1830 on it

Great hunt and story!! Hopefully you can find more and then to find the owner. Would make for a great return and maybe answer some questions to what happened.
If you cant find the owner, some great finds to add to the collection. Would love to find a silver scout ring myself.

...Maybe a big, black furry storm, with large paws and giant claws.....and bad breath! :laughing7:

So amazing! Way to go! -Lisa & John

Also sounds like it could have been a drop after a burglary , you might check with police if any happened to that individual whose wallet you found.
