I'm looking to finally upgrade from my Garrett Ace 250 and would like some suggestions. I like that detector, but feel it's time take the next step as I can't even seem to find silver with it. A somewhat local acquaintance uses a Garrett AT Pro and while it seems like a great detector, I don't know that I'm ready to drop that kind of money for one at this point.

Is there a good recommendation somewhere in between those two at maybe $400-500 range? Mostly looking to hunt coins and maybe some relics. We live in a very historic civil war area so there's lots around (actually just dug my first musket ball tonight!).

Look at supporting venders they have ATPROS around ur price range I know metal detecting stuff has one package for around $550 I think. I have a ace 250and my next will be the AT PRO

Tesoro Vaquero $450 and the Tesoro Outlaw with Three coils (12 x 10; 9 x 8; 5.75") $550

The AT PRO is your best choice.

Yeah I really am heading that way the more I think about it. Also considering the Fisher F5 but from what I've seen the AT PRO has a better iron filter.

Man, if I could guarantee that I'd make my money back this would be an easier decision haha 8-)

Under $500 I'd go with the Vaquero. For $50 more you can get the Tesoro Outlaw which comes with 3 coils.

I would have to agree with Terry. I'm new to the hobby, I bought a Tesoro Tiger Shark almost a month ago and i've found silver rings, gold rings, and some artifacts and lots of coins plus the usual trash. I just purchased the Outlaw with the 3 coil bundle for $550 next is the Vaquero I love Tesoro and don't think i will ever buy another brand. IMO i don't need to pay for bells and whistles when all you need is your ears.
