a good detector for the deaf

I had a deaf friend who detected while holding his free hand over the speaker. Another friend rigged up a small handheld vibrating device that plugged into the phone jack, and it worked fine; however, he still preferred to use the speaker method. The detector was a Garrett with a large meter, but he didn't find that particularly helpful either.

thanks.....so did he seem to get the hang of it???

You bet! I would guess that he missed some smaller &/or deeper targets due to weak signals, but he certainly made plenty of good finds. Unfortunately, he passed away some time ago; otherwise, I'm sure he would have welcomed the chance to pass along a few tips to your friend.

Whites make a Water machine for the beach. It has three lights on it. One for iron, one for rings and the other for coins. It's called the Beach Hunter ID . HH Art...

Vibra-phone 280 is for you. No tools needed. Just clip it on to your detector and plug it in to the headphone jack in place of your headphones

I have the advantage of being near kellyco, I go there about once a month and look around, It really is a metal detector superstore, It also has a metal detector/ treasure hunting museum, which is interesting in itself., Also the people that work there are full of good Ideas.. You also run into Pro Treasure hunters, I met some of Mel fishers divers the last time i was there

Just wanted to pass along some info that I found...I have a friend about 25 years old that is deaf and he and I hunt with Bounty Hunter Pioneer 202 detectors..he told me he can feel the vibration of the unit whenever he gets a signal..plus it has a digital meter with a arrow that moves under the target on the screen that it falls under(pulltab, zinc penny, dime, quarter, etc)....he swears by his and is very happy..before that we found a man in Garland,Texas...Jay's Cache P.O. Box 472531-LT Garland,TX 75047-2531 that has a unit called a silent search..plugs into the headphone jack..every time it finds an acceptable target it flashes a red LED light...might work for your friend that is deaf...just thought I would pass this along to you to consider...hope it helps...he has an ad in Lost Treasure magazine if you want to see if would work..thanks

forgot to tell you the price...regular one is $7.95 and the one with a longer cord is $12.95..not bad...and if you order through Lost Treasure magazine you get free shipping...thanks again...hope you find something to help your friend...good hobby to get into... :)
