Re: A "g" and.... an "o" ;)

Okay Nana I give up. The only thing I can think of is they are mineral inclusions in the rock. They don't really look like fossils but they are definitely interesting! :o

Me too Richard.... :'( I have searched to id them without success.

Thanks

Re: A "g" and.... an "o" ;)

These are tough because they are weathered specimens. You are essentially looking at a cross section of the fossils. A guess for one on the right would be a cephalopod-but it is just a wild guess.

Next time Nana- show us some easy ones.

HAHA! OK George :)

But...

If they were easy ones..that means they are common ones! Now....who would want common?

Thanks you two for replying! ;) Let me see what else I can find! :D

i don't have a clue.............
but they're soooooooooooo cool!
maybe the 'g' is a 9??...and the 'o' is a fried egg! lol

Last fall we went to the herkimer diamond mine in herkimer, ny. They have quite an impressive fossill museum. And we found alot of diamonds , too!?
and the year before last we found a cool razor clam fossill? in a 10' square-ish chunk of granite? on the beach at Cape Enrage, New Bruswick. It's now all cemented into the chimney in the dining room along with other 'special' rocks we've picked up over the years from? different places.
? ? If we finish splitting + stacking? the 7th cord of wood tomorrow (we REFUSE to pay the oil prices this year), we'll be heading down to NC late friday. yippeeeeeeeeeeee!? never know what we will find!
Be well,
ash
