Got back onto the site where I dug the 1 reale a couple weeks ago and was rewarded with a first...Spanish 8 Maravedis! I've dug plenty of Spanish silvers but this is the first copper. Also dug a lot of buttons including tombacs, flats and a couple pewters.

Dug a mystery item which has me intrigued. For some reason i'm thinking sword hanger...or part thereof. Have to do some research...

Man that Spanish copper is really awesome. I don't think I've seen one posted, at least not in a loong time.

Not sure what your other item is, I'll have to keep watching and see if someone can ID.

Awesome finds - one splendid Spanish 8 Maravedis and "congrats" to you - thanks for sharing & wish you many more while out dirt fishin.

Thanks...I was wondering about that mark!

And yours was minted at Segovia, not (the usual) Madrid.
Congrats on your find !!
(Similar to this mint mark-behind the king's head)

Greats Spanish copper. The mystery item is cool man - perhaps a chin strap to a helmet? Great assortment of buttons - looks like my haul last week! Lol.

Nice work and thanks for posting bud

Some history:
Segovia is a city in the autonomous region of Castile and León, Spain and capital of Segovia Province. In 1985 the old city of Segovia and its Aqueduct were declared World Heritage Sites by UNESCO. The Aqueduct, located in Plaza del Azoguejo, is the defining historical feature of the city, dating from the late 1st or early 2nd century CE. The Segovia mint mark, the aqueduct, has appeared on coins from that region since the days of Henry IV (1454-1474).
Here's a modern version of the mint mark:

Congratualtions on the Spanish Copper! :occasion14:

Hi; Great finds. I'm thinking the mystery piece is part of a horse strap, bridle, rosette or saddle ornament. Cool Finds. What was the location GPS Coords again?? :laughing7: PEACE:RONB

Awesome copper! Congrars!
Nice relic haul too!

Haha...funny thing is one of my "competitors" was detecting the site at the same time...a rare occurrence in these parts!

I got one of those. Don't seem to see many dug

Killer find buddy. I recently found a Counterstamped 1653 Spanish copper. These things don't often show up my friend. Congrats on adding a cool coin to the collection

Awesome recoveries. I hope you get an ID on that mystery item. It looks interesting - lots of potential. Definitely worth your time to research such a recovery.

I posted it over in the What is It forum as well as Facebook but nothing concrete. ID ME on Facebook have come up with a possible epaulet piece or sword hanger...hoping to find another example of whatever it is for confirmation.
