Did a little running around today and found 5 40% halves. Two of them have a red X through them on the front and back. Maybe a CRHer did that before silver went way up and 40% halves became worth keeping? Who knows.

Five 40%s on a Saturday is good. Some people here dump the 40%s and only keep the 90%s.
I have a bank down the road from me that a person dumps $500 every two weeks. He is a silver hunter, but old school, and doesn't know about the 40%s. I am always buying his dumps and
getting 40%s.

A lot of old-timers still don't consider 40%'ers as keepers. 15-20 years ago, they weren't. Heck, some will argue steadfastly that there is no silver in them. Their mindset is 64 and earlier. That is why it pays to ask for them all - even if you think they are someone's dumps.

no matter how much I tell my grandfather(who is 87), that 1965-1970 are silver keepers as well, he only remembers 1964 and older, I tell him every time too! just thought I would add that. hh

why would you argue with them ?

When I first started CRHing, silver was like $7/oz. Those 40%ers were barely worth more than face. They were hard to sell. I bet a lot of people wish they had saved em now!!! Those might've been mine... Cept I never marked my coins. I'd rather not know if someone has already looked through my box... Makes u lose hope after the first roll!

I once got a '64 with a black sharpy across the back of the head, fresh too
