First time posting in today's finds!

Started off the morning with a short hike through my woods to an old house foundation I found 2 days ago, found some weird, flower shaped sprinkler thing on the surface.

Decided to head back to my house to search my yard as I wasn't having much luck, and boy am I glad I did!
The spring thaw first yielded me with 2 wheats, a '52-D and '53-D, and then, I see this: :hello2:

A 1939 Washington! In beautiful shape! And in my previously hunted yard!

Took a break after to eat, and was surprised by this fortune with my Chinese food:

Apparently that was true, as I found 4 wheats in one hole immediately after. :icon_thumleft:
A '40, '44, '47, and '50.

My results:

Gave my cents a bath in hot peroxide, and my quarter got warm water and a brush.

My nicest quarter yet. :headbang: I'd say just above Very Fine.

Happy Hunting! -Joe

never seen a 39 Wash that sexy.. awesome find!

looks like fun....nice quarter !!!

That "sprinkler" thing is a burner element to an old gas stove. Pretty cool though. Figure it dates around the 30s.
Looks like you have a decent place to poke around.

Just to show how nice it is, here's a comparison between it and the 1941-S I found in my BACK yard last year: 8-)

Check out that rim... You should see it without the shadow! I LOVE this one!!!! 2014's gonna be SWEEEET!

nice silver quarter that thing is in great shape, musta been dropped in 1939. great save my friend

nice pickup! The surfaces do look decent on it, but be careful of brushing it, it could put mini scratches on the surface called hairlines.

Joe1944 ,

Interesting finds. I like the quarter best.

Nice find, and in your own yard to boot! That quarter is like new.

Cold up there,, starting to get nicer here in PA. NICE JOB ON THE FINDS

I have yet to pull a silver Wash. Great finds!

Cool finds, congrats on the silver.

Nice going.

Your fortune has a point. I feel that If you expect good luck then you will never realize it because you are setting your expectations too high, but if you don't expect good luck then you will notice it.

Basically, humbling your expectations and be happy with what you get. Some people wouldn't consider what you found great, but if you expect to find nothing spectacular then you will be surprised when you do find something. I am happy to find wheats most of the time while I had people scoff.

Where are you in NY? I'm still frozen solid and snow covered here in the finger lakes region.

I'm down in Rockland county, near NYC. The last snow we got was a light dusting for about an hour last week. I'd say about 80-90% of the snow is gone. But in some places, like the woods I started in, the ground is still rock hard. Leaves and branches were literally frozen solid, no amount of kicking and prying would help, which is why I went back to my house, which apparently was a very good idea! :laughing7:

Hold out, spring is on it's way!:icon_thumright:
