A while back I was asked to look for a wedding ring (have not found it...yet) by a local couple who also happen to own 2 early 1900's era houses. They're allowing me to go over the yards of both while searching for their ring. Unfortunately both yards are loaded with bits and pieces of aluminum siding scrap pieces, pulltabs, memorial pennys and other junk. So far I've managed 3 silver dimes -a Rosie, a Merc, and a Barber -(the other Rosie and Merc came from a local park), a 1944 Canadian penny, 2 wheats, a pocket full of clad, and some other interesting odds and ends. Included in my finds from that yard is the large button that I have pictured. It has a crest pictured on the front and appears to be of WW 2 era, probably military but I don't recognize it. The back was steel and is heavily corroded. No chance of getting a back mark on this one. Anyone out there know what it is? The cool little gun is one of those novelty lighters and not the awesome old toy that I thought it was at first....lol. Also the V8 emblem....anyone know the model/make/year? The Jerusalem ring is just aluminum unfortunately. And the turned finial looking piece is brass and hollow, came from about 10 to 12 inches at a spot down by the Mississippi River where there was activity all the way back to the late 1700's. Can't figure out what it would have been. Wish the relics we find could talk!!!!
