I got out a couple days ago for a hunt at a new spot which had the potential for some amazing finds. This is a house which was built in 1832 and has been lived in ever since. The potential came from the houses location...immediatley beside an old fort. The fort has been there since the 1600s so we were pretty excited to hunt this property. I was surprised at the finds! While I did manage to pick up a few keepers there were practically no coins to be found with the exception of a 1955 silver quarter and a handful of clad. The finds for the most part were in keeping with the age of the house and not the nearby fort. Oh well, still a good day out before the storm.

I dug a couple firsts. This is the first skeleton key that I have found. Also got a Police Force two piece button which may be from the Nova Scotia Provincial Police which was replaced by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in 1932. The Henry Siegel souvenir was interesting and is posted in the What Is It forum. Also got the usual silver plated spoon and hamonica reeds and a single musketball. To cap off the day I picked up the frame of a brooch and a tiny lead (maybe) rabbit. Thanks for looking.

Wow! What a day that was. Nice finds. I particularly love the frame.

Very cool relics. Old keys they always look good in a show case.

I love that key!

I wish I could find about a dozen of them and then mount them in a frame..
for whatever reason I think that would be a great wall piece xD

Good digs =) Can't wait to get back to Manitoba in the spring/summer to dig some old farm houses
