Hello Fellow, yes fellow Deus owners.
I recently traded my ETrac for a Deus.
Anyway, does anyone have a well rounded old coin/relic program you'd be willing to share?
Also, I'll be wearing the remote control on my arm. (I won't be using headphones ). How do I increase volume on the remote control?
I have the Sabisch book, viewed vids and have researched alot. For learning this machine I've chosen 12khz and full tones among others. Any advice..?
Thanks
Peace ✌

No volume control on the remote.

My starting program for residential property hunts with minimal trash and iron in low mineralization is:

12K
Full tones
AR 4
Reactivity 2
Silencer -1
Disc 2.0
TX-1
Iron Volume 1
Sens 88

Tweak as necessary for more or less depth:
More depth:
Reactivity 1
Silencer -1

Less depth:
Reactivity 3
Silencer -1

Severely Trashy/Iron-y:

Reactivity 3
Silencer -1 or 0

Save/name this as a custom program, then create an identical program using 4K in the slot next to the 12K program. US coins will be obvious when you check a target between these two programs--especially after you have a lot of hours under your belt. A coin's VDI and/or tone will be lower in 4K than in 12K--if the opposite occurs then you likely have junk (bottlecap perhaps).

Good luck!

I have to ask, why are you keeping your TX at 1?, and sens at 88?
In clean ground.

Those two settings aren't nearly as important for obtaining depth. Remember, I use this program in residential areas where targets are rarely deeper than 7 inches. TX pumps more energy into the ground and the resulting feedback can serve to confuse the Deus somewhat. It also reduces battery level. Some users, including me have had unusually fast battery drain using TX-3 while in 12K--that's not supposed to happen, but it does. Keeping TX at 1 allows me to hear deep targets and prevents confusing the Deus when I get over nails, trash and other debris. Sens serves to enhance the audio signals at graduating depths....you don't need as much sens as you might think. A good test, and a good practice for anyone using the Deus is to find a deeply buried target (or bury one yourself), then setup your program and tinker with sens and TX and you'll see what I mean. Certainly if you're trying to detect a dime at 12+ inches, then you'll need all the help you can get...crank it all up and go for the gusto, but watch your battery. Just keep in mind it's reactivity and silencer that'll get you leaps of depth as opposed to small increments.

When debris is so dense that you have to resort to reactivity 3, then TX-1 and a reasonable sens are even more important. The more there is under the coil, the easier it is for any detector to get confused...but compared to most detectors though, the Deus has the advantage in those conditions. The most valuable learning tool of course is experience in the field--good luck.

Great response ggossage,
I'm pretty good with the settings, and what they all mean.
But being from the North East, and hunting alot of colonial home steads, littered with iron, I find for me that TX at 2 Silencer 0, Reactivity 3 AR 5, sens,93
In 11.7 khl. 0 disc and Full tones.
Works really well. If it gets really noise I will bump disc up to 2. And even drop sens down to 85.
What is really important is having headphones up to 7 so I can really hear them wispers.
Thanks for your response, always willing to learn what others have tried.

Disappointed with no volume control on remote.
I'll normally wear remote on arm. Sometimes use the flip open holder. Wish it was louder.
If I purchase the "watch type" band/holder for earphone controller and wear it on my wrist, can I then control volume in that configuration?
As you can tell, I'll do nearly anything to avoid headphones . ;)
Thanks
Peace ✌

I, like you, wanted to avoid headphones at all costs, I have the WS4's, didn't take long, I fell in love with them.

I too, ran with no head phones on my at pro. Then started the second season. Now, I could not imagine hunting without my ws5's. Just makes you focus and hear those subtle sounds...

As for volume, that's tricky. I would try to make a custom controller holder. One that leaves the speaker exposed and also can be flipped for doing adjustments. Maybe a velcro arm band and velcro controller holder. Better yet choose a shirt and sew on a patch of velcro on the shoulder. Letting you mount the controller, with the speaker facing up, close to your ear. 3m makes some good adhesive velcro, for this kind of application.

When I run with or without my WS4s I put my controller in my shirt pocket.
If I hit a target that I need to check the VDI or ground balance I just pull it out and check.
Without the phones I can hear my controller just fine.
Just a thought and no mods needed...
