Back to the half dollar yard and all the good signals are long gone. So now that the cherry picking is done I started digging the mid tones. I pulled 2 buffs a1918 and a dateless buff. Also got a 1903 v nick

Also found a huge flat button which doesn't seem to fit in with the site (1900). No back marks

Also found a suspended clip and a huge brass buckle

the cherry picking is done. just leave the garbage for the next guy. lol

Very nice. Congrats.

I'm surprised you aren't having trouble with frozen ground.

That button is very interesting looking. it has a lot of details on BOTH sides. Would love to see it when it's all cleaned up, it's prob. earlier than u think.
Congrats on the nicks too!

The yard where these came from is like a small field. Really long grass like 6". The snow packed it down enough to swing. And after some super human strength lol. I am able to get a hole dug. The first 2" is frozen. But after that it's pretty good

nice, still may be some more hidden in there

I am very surprised on how nice your v nickel is in shape! It shows great detail. Very nice finds congratulations on the button I have personally never found a button! Happy Hunting in the Future!!!!

The v nick was actually sandwiched together with its obverse touching a Wheatie I think that's why it's detail is so good. It must of been dropped fairly early after being minted with a full Liberty still showing. It's a shame that nickels rot so much in the ground

My favorite find is, without a doubt, the flat button. I would be quite happy to never find another buffalo or V if I could find a nice big button with shank every time.

It was my favorite find also. Wish I could get more info about it. But no back marks probably kills that

I will add my other find from that hunt later
I keep forgetting to take a picture of it

It is a lead flute player solider. Pretty neat piece

Nickels vary they can be in great condition or readless the only buffalo nickel I found while metal detecting besides the cache was orange and you could even see the Indian! To be fair it was on a beach though!

Here is the little toy soldier I dug on the same day as the nickels. Everything found at this site has been turn of the century so I am guessing he is from the same era. No markings on him. Any help on Id would be appreciated
